The Ukrainian Bishop Gideon of Makarioupolis, who was expelled by the Ukrainian authorities on Thursday, February 14, is optimistic that he will receive US support.
According to Bishop Gideon, US Congress representatives have assured him that they will contribute directly to his returning to Ukraine.
“Many friends and acquaintances called me when I was still at Boryspil Airport and informed me that they would take action. They also assured me that they will do their best for my immediate return,” Bishop Gideon said in a video message.
Furthermore, the Ukrainian Bishop confirmed that he had previously visited the United States, at a congressional invitation, where at one of the official meetings he denounced Mr. Poroshenko’s policy.
“I informed the US Congress that, in Ukraine, human rights, freedom of press, conscience and the expression of faith in general are being violated,” Bishop Gideon characteristically noted.
