In an atmosphere of joy, the Vespers of Love was celebrated at the Cathedral of the Annunciation in Redfern, Sydney, on the morning of Easter Sunday.
Archbishop Makarios of Australia presided over the service, accompanied by Metropolitan Seraphim of Sebastia and Bishops Iakovos of Militoupolis and Emialinos of Meloa, with the participation of the clergy and the monastic brotherhood.
The service was attended by the High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus in Australia, Martha Mavrommati, and the Consul General of Greece in Sydney, Christos Karras, with his spouse, Commercial Attaché, Karia Gkikiza, and many faithful.
The mixed youth choir performed hymns of the Vespers while the Gospel of John was read in various languages by the Archbishop and the clergy.
At the end of the service, the Archbishop blessed the Easter eggs and then distributed them to the faithful, wishing them a blessed and happy Easter.
