Archbishop Makarios of Australia and Archbishop Irenaeus of Crete officiated at the Archieratic Divine Liturgy on Sunday, May 19, at the Holy Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Minas in Heraklion.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Archbishop Irenaeus of Crete addressed the Archbishop of Australia and expressed his thanks, on behalf of the Archdiocese of Crete, for what he offered from various positions of responsibility during his long-term ministry at the Archdiocese of Crete.
Then the Archbishop of Crete offered a crosier to the new Archbishop of Australia in memory of his first officiating at the Divine Liturgy in Heraklion as Archbishop of Australia.
On his part, Archbishop Makarios expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Archbishop of Crete and to all the Hierarchs of the Church of Crete.
He referred to his ministry at the Archdiocese of Crete, and thanked the clergy and the employees of the local church for the events in his honour.
