The sanctification service by Archbishop Elpidophoros of America at the construction site of the Church of Saint Nicholas on the feast of Saint Nicholas marks the restart of the church’s construction at Ground Zero.
One of the challenges for the new Archbishop of America is to complete the construction of the church. In his press conference before his enthronement last June, Archbishop Elpidophoros had said that the completion of the church was a point of honor and pride for the Archdiocese of America. In his speech to the Archdiocesan Council, which was held about a month ago, the Archbishop of America promised that the consecration of the Church of St. Nicholas would take place on September 11, 2021.
