Archbishop Elpidophoros of America performed a solemn Trisagion service to honor the memory of late Bishop Ierotheos of Efkarpia at the Stavropegic altar.
In a heartfelt message shared on Facebook in Greek, Archbishop Elpidophoros expressed his profound sorrow upon learning of the passing of his beloved brother, Bishop Ierotheos of Efkarpia. Reflecting on their shared journey within the ranks of the Mother Church of Constantinople, Archbishop Elpidophoros recalled witnessing Bishop Ierotheos’s growth and dedication to Orthodoxy.
“The Lord destined us both to serve the Center of Orthodoxy in America, but His mysterious divine plan called him to Him suddenly and prematurely,” Archbishop Elpidophoros remarked.
With the approval and blessing of His All-Holiness, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Archbishop Elpidophoros performed a Trisagion service at the Stavropegic altar, where Bishop Ierotheos had served faithfully. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the brotherhood of the Monastery of Saint Irene Chrysovalantou in Astoria, New York, as well as to all its members, benefactors, and supporters.
It is recalled that Bishop Ierotheos of Efkarpia, who served as the Abbot of the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of Saint Irene Chrysovalantou, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024.
