The Feast of Pentecost was celebrated in Holy Trinity Cathedral in Manhattan, which this year coincides with Father’s Day as reported by anamniseis.net.
Archbishop Elpidophoros of America officiated the Divine Liturgy. The Archbishop concelebrated with the hierarchical head of the Cathedral, Fr. Nikolaos Karloutsos, and Fr. Sotirios Michalatos as well as the Archdeacon Dionysios and Deacon Bartholomew.
Particular importance was given to the Vespers, which followed the Divine Liturgy during which the wishes of the Kneeling were read.
I hope, said the Archbishop, that the Holy Spirit will enlighten us all, to purify us and to make us worthy of the great gifts of God. I hope, he concluded, that next year more faithful will come to celebrate this brilliant feast.
Earlier, Fr. Nikolaos called on the Cathedral Choir to chant and referred to the two-year anniversary of the Archbishop’s inauguration.
This was followed by a mini reception in the event hall of the Cathedral School, during which Fr. Nikolaos presented a large cake to the Archbishop and wished him on the occasion of the completion of two years since taking office (June 22).
