The Greek Cultural Center “Thespis”, New York, presented the theatrical play of the Athens College Theater Group, “Koinos Logos”, in the context of the commemoration events for the 100th anniversary of the Asia Minor catastrophe, organized by the Archdiocese of America.
The theatrical play depicts the peaceful life of the Greeks in Asia Minor before the disaster, the tragic images of their violent and bloody persecution and their settlement under dramatic conditions in Greece.
Through their words, their songs and their dances, the audience can discover the inner thoughts and feelings of the refugees of that time, of our refugees, but also of the refugees of today.
The play, which is under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy, will be honored by the presence of Archbishop Elpidophoros of America and the President – Director of the College of Athens, academician and professor Kostas Synolakis.
The play, which will be staged on July 7 at the Malliotis Cultural Center in Boston, has been written by Elli Papadimitriou and directed by Angeliki Girginoudi.
