An event on “Religion in Society. The Albanian Model” began in the presence of the religious leaders at the National Museum of History in Tirana, on Monday, May 6, 2019.
The Archbishop of the Orthodox Church of Albania characteristically highlighted that: “We, religions, have joined our voices and efforts to help the helpless.”
The aim of this project, which will continue in the next two days (with visits to the main religious worship facilities of each religious community and with the conference “Religions and Society”) and was organized by the Institute of Collaboration for Integration and Development (ICID), with the help of the National Museum of History and the Albanian National Archives, is to highlight and promote religious tolerance and coexistence in Albania in order to ensure cooperation, harmony and mental integrity for the people.
In their interventions, the religious leaders, Grand Mufti of the Muslim Community of Albania Bujar Spahiu, Catholic Archbishop George Anthony Frendo, Archbishop Anastasios of the Orthodox Church of Albania, representative of the Bektashi delegation Baba Saliu and Pastor Ylli Doçi, Chairman of the Evangelical Alliance of Albania, reported that interfaith understanding is a model for society’s improvement and cohesion.
