Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana and all Albania was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at the “Evangelismos” Hospital in Athens as he was found positive for the coronavirus.
According to the medical bulletin invoked by skai.gr: “Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana, Durres, and All Albania was hospitalised on the 11th of November 2020 and has been transferred to the Intensive Care Unit. He has shown mild symptoms and has a low-grade fever. His state of health is currently stable and under control.”
It is recalled that Archbishop Anastasios underwent relevant tests at a medical centre in Tirana which showed that he was infected with Covid-19. Although the symptoms seemed to be mild, the medics in Tirana considered it necessary to transfer and hospitalise the Archbishop in a specialised clinic in Greece, given his age and some chronic health problems.
Therefore, it was deemed necessary that Archbishop Anastasios should be admitted to the Evangelismos Hospital to receive the appropriate treatment, and following the consent of Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Archbishop was transferred from Tirana to Athens with a C 130 aircraft.
