Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana and all Albania sends his message about the death of Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral.
As he points out, “the beloved local Church of Montenegro has lost its outstanding spiritual leader, its chosen pastor. The Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania also lost a precious friend and brother, with whom we have worked harmoniously for decades in the theological and pastoral matters of our Church.”
Archbishop Anastasios of Albania notes in his message that “the Orthodox Church bids farewell to an enlightened theologian and hierarch with sound training, enlightened thinking, determination and courage, with an ecumenical Orthodox mind. He participated and contributed creatively in the Pan-Orthodox Synaxes and, most recently, in the Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church in Crete.
His sobriety, clarity of thought and loving outspokenness always contributed effectively in orthodox meetings and decisions. May his memory live forever.”
