The Abbot of Vatopedi Monastery, Archimandrite Elder Ephraim paid a pilgrimage visit today to the Ecumenical Patriarchate in order to pay their respects to the Ecumenical Patriarch and receive his blessings on the beginning the Liturgical Year. Elder Ephraim was accompanied by monks from the monastery, Father Evdokimos and Father Georgios, and Hieromonk Chrysostomos, the Elder of the Skete of Saint Chrysostomos of Koutloumousiou Monastery.
During the meeting, they also referred to the forthcoming visit of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to Mount Athos, where he will preside over the Divine Liturgy on October 20 at the Xenophontos monastery on the 200th anniversary since its establishment.
The Ecumenical Patriarch will travel to Karyes, where he will pay respects to the icon of Panagia “Axion Esti” in Protato. Then he will visit Vatopedi Monastery, Pantokratoros Monastery, Athonite Academy, and the Sketes of Saint Andreas (also known as Seraglio), of Saint Panteleimon (Koutloumousiou Monastery) and of Prophet Elijah.
Metropolitan Amphilochios of Adrianople also attended the meeting.
