A large delegation of the Church of Greece participated in the 6th International Meeting of Orthodox Youth held in Craiova, Romania, on September 5-8, 2019.
The Church of Greece was represented by a 16-member youth group led by Metropolitan Georgios of Kitros, Katerini and Platamon.
The opening ceremony took place at Mihai Viteazul Square in Craiova in the presence of Patriarch Daniel of Romania and many archpriests.
The theme of the 6th International Meeting of Orthodox Youth was “Faith, Hope, Love”. On September 6-7, conferences, educational workshops, exhibitions and creative activities took place. There were some other events like music concerts, tour guides and parade of the representatives in the streets of the city.
On Sunday, September 8, Archbishop of Craiova and Metropolitan of Oltenia, Irineu, presided over the Archieratical Co-liturgy, which was concelebrated by the archpriests and other clerics, who were representatives of Orthodox Churches.
The annual International Meeting of Orthodox Youth has become an important pastoral institution of the Romanian Orthodox Church, which is becoming increasingly inter- Orthodox.
Metropolitan Georgios of Kitros conveyed the brotherly wishes and congratulations to the Patriarch Daniel of Romania on behalf of Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece and the members of the Holy Synod.
