Metropolitan Savva of Warsaw and All Poland celebrates today, January 25, his saint’s name day, in memory of Saint Savvas, Archbishop of Serbia.
The Hierarchs of the Church of Poland, as well as Archbishop Alexander of Gorodetsky, of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine of the Patriarchate of Moscow and Bishop Isaias of Sumperk, of the Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, participated in a festive joint celebration of the Divine Liturgy.
At the end of the Liturgy, attended by various clerics from all over Poland, representatives of the government and the Parliament, the ambassadors of Greece and Cyprus, as well as crowd of people, Archbishop Abel of Lublin-Chełm delivered a speech, expressing his cordial wishes to the head of the Church of Poland, on behalf of the Hierarchy and the Orthodox believers of Poland.
Metropolitan Savva of Warsaw thanked all attendees for having been at the Cathedral of St. Mary Magdalene in Warsaw.
He thanked the Hierarchs from Ukraine and the Czech Republic, underlining that the joint celebration of Divine Liturgy is the proof and the consolidation of the Panorthodox unity that our Orthodoxy now needs.”
