The President of Hellenic Republic, Prokopis Pavlopoulos, after the laying of wreaths during the ceremony in memory of Archimandrite Arsenios Krestas (Paparsenes), commander and fighter of the Greek Palingenesis in Kranidi, referred to the invaluable contribution of the Orthodox Church and the Holy Clergy to the Struggles of our Nation and people, to defend our Country.
As the President Pavlopoulos stated: “Today, we honor, in due respect, the Holy Memory of the Great Fighter of the Greek Revolution of 1821, Arsenios Krestas, the famous Paparsenes. His life and, mostly, his heroic death, stand as emblematic landmarks of the priceless contribution of our Orthodox Church and Holy Clergy during the struggles of our Nation and people for our Country”.
“We, the Greeks, have the holy duty to recognize, eternally, and respect the indisputable truth that our Church and Holy Clergy have played a significant role in Greek regeneration – a truth that is proved by historical evidence, and it is reflected, albeit implicitly, in every single Democratic Constitution of Greece”, concluded Mr. Pavlopoulos.
