The memory of the fighters and the fallen during the Battle of Crete was honored in Canberra by the Greek Diaspora and representatives of Australia, Britain, and New Zealand, on the day of the 80th Anniversary of the historic battle.
At the Greek-Australian Monument of Canberra, a Trisagion was performed by the Archepisocpal Vicar of Canberra and Tasmania, Archimandrite Prochoros Anastasiadis, accompanied by Fr. Petros Kipouros and Fr. George Papakostas, the High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus, Martha Mavrommati, the High Commissioners of Britain and New Zealand, Less Cook, who had taken part in the Battle of Crete, as well as representatives of Cyprus, Ahepa and other expatriate unions.
After the Trisagion, wreaths were laid at the monument. Fr. Prochoros laid a wreath on behalf of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia and Archbishop Makarios.
