On Sunday, April 18, 2021, the Archepisocpal Vicar of Canberra and Tasmania, Archimandrite Prochoros Anastasiadis, presided over the Divine Liturgy for the Sunday of Saint Mary of Egypt for the first time in the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint Georgios in Hobart, Tasmania as reported by vema.com.au.
Fr. Prochoros presided over the Orthros and the Divine Liturgy, accompanied by the priest in charge of the Church, Fr. Panagiotis Nikolakos. In his sermon, which he delivered in Greek and English, Fr. Prochoros stressed the importance of repentance, describing the way Saint Mary changed the way of life.
Moreover, Fr. Prochoros conveyed the wishes of Archbishop Makarios of Australia to the congregation while offering the holy icon of Saint Georgios to Fr. Panagiotis for his 80th birthday.
