On Sunday, February 21, at the Church of Saints Constantine and Helen in Perth, the Greek Community welcomed the new Principal of St. Andrew’s Grammar School, Dawn Clements, and the new Chair of the School Committee, Samta Thakrar.
Fr. Eleftherios Gerovasilis spoke about the important role played by the school of Saint Andrews within the Greek community of Perth and its crucial role in preserving Greek Orthodox traditions and culture.
Also, on behalf of Bishop Elpidios of Kyanes, Fr. Eleftherios conveyed to the new director and the new president the blessing and wishes of Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
Byron Spartalis, President of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia, expressed the great joy that the Greek Community feels for the new administration of the school.
On behalf of the Parish, an icon of Saints Constantine and Helen was offered to both Clements and Thakrar.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, poems were recited by the students of the school in honor of the principal and the president of the school committee and morning tea followed in the hall of the Greek Community with the participation of all those present.
It is noted that the Consul of Greece in Perth, Georgia Karasiotou, the administrative members of the Greek Community, the new school council, the teaching staff, and the students of the school were present.
