Two important projects for the Mt. Athos monastic community were approved by the Centre for the Preservation of Athonite Heritage on Tuesday.
One relates to the environmental approval of plans for the infrastructure of the Iviron Monastery jetty, and the other to requirements necessary for a project to process sewage on the all-male Mt. Athos.
The projects were approved by the center’s board of managers, chaired by Deputy Interior Minister for Macedonia-Thrace Stavros Kalafatis.
In a post on Facebook, Kalafatis said that the projects will facilitate visitors and provide the needed environmental infrastructure that has plagued the community for years.
