In a post on social media, the Metropolitan of Zambia recollects the day of the inauguration of the Cathedral of the Holy Archangels in Mozambique, when he was Bishop of Mozambique.
Moreover, on Sunday, 16th of February 2014, the Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa, on the third day of his in the Republic of Mozambique, inaugurated the beautiful historic Cathedral of Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel in the country’s capital, Maputo. Metropolitan Damaskinos of Iannoupolis and local Bishop Ioannis concelebrated the service.
In his homily, the Patriarch of Alexandria addressed from the bottom of his heart all those who attended the service. He thanked everyone, one by one, for their hospitality in the beautiful country of Mozambique and expressed his gratitude to the local Bishop Ioannis for his love for the Patriarchate and himself.
Following the actions of the Bishop of Mozambique, the Roman Catholic Church provided a part of the holy relics of Apostle and Evangelist Mark, Founder of the Alexandrian Church, which was kept in a reliquary.
After the end of the services, a festive luncheon was held inside the Missionary Centre of the Diocese and, in the afternoon of the same day, the Patriarch headed to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Mozambique, where he had a meeting with the Russian Ambassador Mr Andrey V. Kemarsky with whom he discussed several matters of mutual interest.
