The Church commemorates Hieromartyr Therapon, who was a bishop in Cyprus, as well as Venrable Therapon, who was an ascetic in the community of Sinda. Both saints are especially revered in Agastina of Mesaoria.
Hieromartyr Therapon was born in the 7th century AD and his parents raised him according to Christian tradition. His upbringing made him an honest, creative and faithful member of the Church. This is why he chose to lead a monastic life and be devoted to God’s will. Thanks to his constant practice and his virtues, his brotherhood made him priest and then bishop.
In one of the raids of the Arabs, Saint Therapon was operating, they invaded and slaughtered him on the Holy Table.
The Christians buried his relic with reverence, and later transferred it to Constantinople, where it became the source of many miracles and healing of the faithful. His holy well (hagiasma) is also in Constantinople.
