Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew praised the historic mission of the Patriarchate, emphasizing that it has “passed through fire and water,” yet has consistently preserved its identity and sense of mission.
Referring to the new Archons, he highlighted the significance of the institution and the vital role of their ministry in preserving the sacred privileges of the Patriarchate, describing them as “ambassadors of the Great Church of Christ to the world.”
The Ecumenical Patriarch explained that, despite the numerous challenges it has encountered, the Ecumenical Patriarchate continues to uphold its duty to safeguard the faith and preserve the unity of Orthodoxy. As he stated, “The Holy Great Church of Christ has never, for even a moment, lost its self-consciousness and identity.”
Finally, he congratulated Archbishop Makarios of Australia on the establishment of the Order of Christ the Saviour, emphasizing that this important decision will greatly contribute to the mission of the Church. He concluded his speech by wishing the new Archons to be “worthy.”
