On the Feast of the Transfiguration, Serbian Patriarch Porfirije celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the historic Krka Monastery. Addressing the numerous faithful gathered under the arches of the Monastery of St. Archangel Michael, located on the serene banks of the Krka River, the Patriarch highlighted the fundamental Christian principles of peace and love.
In his sermon, Patriarch Porfirije stressed the importance of inner transformation as the true path to spiritual renewal. He explained that this transformation requires living in harmony with oneself, with others, and with God’s creation, including the natural world. He remarked:
“Without peace, it is superfluous, and even mindless, to discuss anything. Peace is always a gift from God, granted to those who open their hearts to the word of Christ. When we truly understand Christ’s teachings, our lives begin to align with His word. If we find ourselves on the wrong path, distanced from ourselves, from others, and from God, it is through listening to Christ’s word and integrating it into our lives that we gradually transform. Step by step, we come into harmony with God, with ourselves, and with all of God’s creation, including the people we encounter and nature itself.”
The Patriarch concluded by reflecting on the deeper meaning of the Transfiguration, urging the faithful to recognize that true change begins within. “The Feast of the Transfiguration invites us to understand that our lives do not primarily depend on external circumstances. Only when we are transformed from within can we also transform the world around us.”
Through his message, Patriarch Porfirije reminded the faithful that the journey towards spiritual renewal begins with inner peace and harmony, which ultimately leads to a transformed and harmonious world.
