The 1st Bioethics Conference of the Ecumenical Patriarchate was successfully completed, which was held in Rethymno, Crete, under the auspicies of Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymno and Avlopotamos.
On Sunday, October 22, a Archieratical Divine Liturgy was performed at the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of Arkadi. Archbishop Makarios of Australia presided over the Divine Liturgy which was concelebrated by Metropolitans Nicholas of Mesogaia and Lavreotiki and Myronos of New Zealand, presbyters and deacons, participants and many believers.
Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymno and Avlopotamos and Bishop Smaragdos of Dafnousia prayed together.
Metropolitan Gerasimos of Petra and Herronissos preached the Divine Word and analyzed the evangelical passage of the day about the feast of the Synaxis of all the Holy Doctors. He referred to the end of the work of the 1st Bioethics Conference of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the concern of the Mother Church for the protection of human beings. He also spoke about the 32nd anniversary of the election of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to the Apostolic Throne of Constantinople.
In conclusion, Archbishop Makarios of Australia thanked Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymno and Avlopotamos and all those who contributed to the organization and hosting of the Conference.
