The peninsula of Mount Athos was declared to be in a state of emergency by a decision of the Governor of Central Macedonia, Apostolos Tzitzikostas.
As the head of the independent Department of Civil Protection of the Region, Babis Stergiadis, stated to ANA-MPA, the decision is valid from today and for six months.
At the same time, the other procedures for the approval of projects, technical reports and works for the restoration of the damages are expected in consultation with the Ministry of Infrastructure.
It is noted that Mount Athos was particularly affected by the recent rains and bad weather that caused damage to the road network and landslides.
