Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic revealed in an interview with Serbian public television (RTS) that in the phone conversation he had with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin the situation in Ukraine was also discussed.
“Putin himself wanted to inform me about the developments in Ukraine, about the events in Bucha, and about his plans. He told me that everything is going as planned,” Vucic said, noting that he can not reveal for obvious reasons details of the conversation, as reported by protagon.gr.
Serbia’s president, who was re-elected last Sunday to Serbia’s top post and received Putin’s congratulations, said he did not adopt the views of some politicians in the West who likened the Russian president to Hitler and called him crazy.
“The two of us have known each other a long time and I can’t accept this approach where they call him Hitler or call him crazy. He’s not crazy, he’s not paranoid, he’s not hysterical, none of that. He spoke to me with firmness, calmness, and reason,” Vucic said in his interview.
The Serbian president stressed that during the talks with Putin, a significant degree of convergence was achieved regarding the supply of natural gas and crude oil.
He pointed out that the Russian side highly appreciates the fact that Serbia is the only country in Europe that did not impose sanctions.
Aleksandar Vucic in his interview on Serbian public television also referred to the pressure he is under to align himself with Western politics.
“A “nuclear bomb”is hovering over Serbia in the form of sanctions against Serbia or suspension of EU accession negotiations,” Vucic said.
