On Sunday May 21, 2023, a part of the choir of Saint Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral of Kuopio, led by the choir conductor Sofia Laukkanen, came to Antalya where they took part in the Divine Liturgy presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Job of Pisidia at the Church of Saint Alypios the Stylite in concelebration with the local clergy.
After singing parts of the Divine Liturgy, the choir gave a concert of liturgical hymns and folk songs for the many parishioners present. During the meal organized for the occasion, Father Elisaios Rotko who accompanied the choir testified to the faithful about the life of the Orthodox Church in Finland and answered their questions.
The choir’s visit was coordinated by the rector of the Antalya church, Hieromonk Vladimiros Rusanen, himself a Finn. During their stay in the Holy Metropolis of Pisidia, the choir visited the many historical and ecclesiastical sites, and made a pilgrimage to the tomb of Saint Nicholas at Myra in Lycia, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Myra.
