With the blessing of Archbishop Makarios of Australia, Fr. Edward Waters visited once again the parishes of the Holy Archdiocese in regional New South Wales on Saturday and Sunday of the Prodigal Son.
On Saturday, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in Dubbo and the Vespers Service in Orange, mainly in English, while on Sunday, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in Orange. Members of the local Greek Orthodox communities, as well as Ukrainians and other residents who have come close to the Orthodox faith, participated in all the services. Their presence serves as a testament to the vibrant presence of Orthodox Christianity in the rural areas of New South Wales.
Several young chanters graced with their presence both the Vespers and the Divine Liturgy in Orange, chanting parts of the services in English.
Fr. Edward expressed the love and well wishes of Archbishop Makarios, as well as the entire Holy Archdiocese of Australia. He encouraged them to take refuge in the churches, much like the prodigal son did in his father’s house, emphasizing the importance of spiritual homes.
Acknowledging their tireless efforts and dedication, Father Edward expressed gratitude to the presidents of the local parishes, Michail Gryllis and Konstantinos Raptis, who is also a committed chanter across the rural region of New South Wales. He assured them of his intention to relay their prayers and regards to Archbishop Makarios, along with their appreciation for the unwavering support of the Holy Archdiocese.
