A few hours after the Summit, where the EU essentially “patted” Turkey, Ankara engaged in a provocative attitude against Greece.
Upon issuing new Navtex, Turkey again raises the issue of demilitarization of six Aegean islands such as Samothrace, Lemnos, Chios, Samos, Tilos and Halki.
As stated in the Navtex, both the Treaty of Lausanne, which, however, the Turkish president has requested its revision, and the Treaty of Paris are violated.
It is worth noting that yesterday, the Turkish president, in a teleconference speech on the opening of the highway, criticized the EU for allowing Turkey’s relations with the EU to be held hostage by Greece and Cyprus.
“Despite the intense efforts we are making to resolve our issues with the EU, always with good intentions and through dialogue, we do not find its attitude to be correct. It is completely wrong for the deep-rooted Turkey-EU relations to be held hostage to the tricks of two countries,” he stressed.
