The National Forum of Greek Orthodox Church Musicians is pleased to present its first Symposium for Composers and Arrangers of Orthodox Church Music, this July 14 – 15, 2023 in St. Louis, Missouri.
The Symposium will be held in conjunction with the Forum’s Annual Meeting (July 13, 2023), culminating with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on Sunday, July 16 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
The Symposium will feature roundtable discussions on timely topics moderated by church musicians from across the country:
Keynote Address by Dr. Tikey Zes
Writing Music for the Choirs of Today with Kevin Lawrence, Stan & Nancy Takis
Building Relationships in Music Leadership with His Eminence Metropolitan SAVAS of Pittsburgh, Richard Barrett, and Costa Tsourakis
Original Compositions with Rev. Fr. Michael Pallad and JoAnn Metropoulos
New Music Arrangements with Chrysanthy Therianos and panelists George Theodossiou, Anthony Giallourakis, and Paul Mavromihalis
“Back to the Future!” with Rev. Fr. Chrysostomos Gilbert and Valerie Karras
In addition to partaking in these important discussions, participants will sing through music arrangements submitted by composers from across the Archdiocese. These arrangements will be incorporated into the theme of each session of the Symposium.
