The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew welcomed at the Phanar today the members of the Holy Eparchial Synod of the Archdiocese of America, who went to Constantinople at his invitation, in order to cooperate on the revision of the Constitution of the Archdiocese of America.
The Mixed Committee, chaired by Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, which has been specially established for the purpose of revising the current constitution of the Archdiocese of America and submitting a formal proposal to the Holy Synod for final approval, met on March 8 and heard the proposal presented by Archbishop Elpidophoros of America regarding the direction and general outline for the new Constitution.
The above proposal was presented by Archbishop Elpidophoros to the members of the Eparchial Synod of the Archdiocese of America, who were informed of the invitation of the Ecumenical Patriarch to go to the Phanar on April 5.
The members of the Holy Eparchial Synod of the Archdiocese of America will cooperate with the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, while the Joint Committee will continue its work on May 26.
