Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the members of the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, which holds its ordinary March meeting since this morning, express their appaltion of the murderous assault against citizens who were in the two Mosques in the city of Christchurch in New Zealand.
In a statement issued by the Ecumenical Patriarchate, it is reported that Bartholomew and the Synodal Archpriests condemn unambiguously all terrorist acts and all acts of hatred and fundamentalism, and call on everyone to collaborate, through dialogue, in order to preserve the good of peaceful coexistence and co-operation. They express their sincere condolences and sympathy to the victims’ families and wish courage and quick recovery to the wounded.
The Ecumenical Patriarch contacted Metropolitan Myron of New Zealand and asked him to convey the above message of the Ecumenical Patriarchate to the Authorities, the Muslim Community, and the people of New Zealand.
