The Eparchial Synod of the Church of Crete expressed its support to the troops of the army and the police who ensure the “border security and the dignity of our country,” but without failing to impose responsibilities on Greece’s European partners, as we are talking about “Greek and European borders at the same time.”
The Cretan Hierarchs also spoke of “guided” people who are “being used as tools,” while stressing that we must advance the national interest by displaying “vigilance, unity and consensus.”
In its statement, the Church of Crete also said regarding the spread of coronavirus that “we wish God protect and preserve the precious good of everyone’s health.” At the same time, it urges the people of Crete “to follow the advice and guidance of the competent services of the State and scientific experts, without panic, but with calmness and prudence.”
Finally, it wishes the Cretans to spend the coming period with repentance, prayer and fasting.
