Sunday of Orthodoxy was celebrated solemnly in Perth. Bishop Elpidios of Kyanes presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Church of Saints Constantine and Helen as reported by vema.com.au.
In his sermon, Bishop Elpidios briefly referred to the controversy of the iconoclasm that plagued the Church for a century and stressed the connection of the holy icons with the incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
He also reminded the faithful that on the first Sunday of Lent we celebrate the triumph of Orthodoxy over lies and delusion.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the procession and the ceremony of the restoration of the holy icons took place.
