On Saturday 6 May 2023, with the blessing of Archbishop Makarios of Australia and under the guidance of Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis, Sunday School teachers in the Archdiocesan District of Melbourne came together for the second time this year.
The purpose of this meeting was for teachers across the district to learn from each other, grow, and exchange ideas.
The meeting was held at St Catherine’s parish hall, Malvern East.
The meeting commenced with an insightful talk on creation delivered by Fr Demetrius Catrinei, from the parish of the Dormition of Our Lady in North Altona. Following the thought-provoking talk, the teachers were given a vital presentation regarding the 11 Victorian child safe standards, which outline the actions organizations must take to keep children and young people safe.
The final part of the meeting focused on fostering collaboration, with the Sunday School teachers offering feedback on the new curriculum and sharing teaching techniques they had found success this year. This feedback will be incorporated into the lesson plans by the Sunday School Committee to enhance the learning experience for our students.
