Do not get attached to gold, or silver, or any other treasure of this world. Get used to have no rights in this life, so that you will not end up saving money with one hand and wasting it with the other.
Give alms out of your hard-earned money and your sweat, and not out of raw deals. Give alms to the poor, even if they wrong and curse you. Charity, however, cannot stand alone as a virtue unless there is first love for God. This will help us not only to endure injustice, but to await the ingratitude that may be shown to us. Be sorry, suffer and burn when your brother needs you, because that is what Christ did. And if anyone hits you in the face, do not be sorry, but rejoice, for the love of God, and do not speak bad to him.
