Vladimir Putin sent his wishes to the Muslims of his country on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, which is celebrated today, as reported by the press office of the Russian President.
“The holy month of Ramadan is over and the Russian Muslims are happy to celebrate the bright and long-awaited holiday.
Eid al-Fitr has been celebrated for centuries with good deeds and with the care of those in need, it symbolizes the struggle of the people for self-determination,” Putin said, adding that Russian Muslims reverently preserve the historical traditions of their ancestors passing them on from generation to generation.
He also noted the active participation of Muslim organizations in Russian public life as well as their contribution to charitable and educational initiatives.
