The Liberal Democratic Party of Russia calls on the Russian Orthodox Church to halt all religious services and mass events until the coronavirus pandemic ends, according to a statement posted by its parliamentary group on its page on the social network “telegram”.
“The Liberal Democratic Party of Russia calls on the Russian Orthodox Church to halt mass gatherings, services and prayers until the coronavirus pandemic ends. All these constitute a violation of the quarantine measures and endanger the lives of the believers, their relatives and their loved ones,” the Party’s statement says.
“Currently, the Russian Orthodox Church continues to perform liturgies and to administer the Holy Communion, while the faithful kiss the icons and relics. This should not be done in any way at this time, strict quarantine measures must be observed,” the statement said.
