Pope Francis was discharged this morning from the Agostino Gemelli Hospital in Rome, where he underwent an operatipn a week ago.
The Pope left the hospital through the main gate in a wheelchair and jokingly declared: “I’m still alive”.
Asked by journalists about the shipwreck near the Peloponnese, he said: “Pain, we feel great pain”.
“The Pope is well, better than before, and will recover in the Vatican monastery where he resides,” said surgeon Sergio Alfieri, who operated on him.
