Today, Sunday, June 9, 2019, the commemoration of the 318 Holy Fathers of the First Ecumenical Synod was ceremoniously held, at the celebrating Holy Fathers Monastery at Shisto, Perama.
The Polyarchieratic co-liturgy was presided by Metropolitan Alexios of Nikaia, assisted by Metropolitans Seraphim of Piraeus and Georgios of Thebes, and Bishops Prokopios of Christianoupolis and Chrysostomos of Evripos.
Metropolitan of Nikaia also preached the Divine Word, and, among others, said the following: “So many centuries later, while we are deluged with various messages, we look back at the Divine Fathers so as to find solutions to our present problems. This is because the Sacred Fathers were not only Theologians, but also Mathematicians and Astronomers and Physicists and Psychologists and much more”.
From his part, Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus said, inter alia: “The message that you, Metropolitan Alexis of Nikaia, have preached is a timely reminder of universal truths. It is a strong response to the Greek parliament that ended up decriminalizing the blasphemy to God, on the grounds of an alleged rigthfulness. A 4000-year old crime is now legalized as a legitimate good. The insult to Him Who creates everything from infinite love “.
