In a devout atmosphere and according to the customs of the Holy and Great Church of Christ, Pentecost Sunday was celebrated today, June 16, at the Patriarchal Church of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew presided the Sacred Feast held at the Patriarchal Church, assisted by Metropolitans Jeremiah of Ankara, Alexios of Atlanta, Meliton of Philadelphia, Chrysostomos of Myra, Theoleptos of Iconion, Amphilochios of Ganos and Chora, Stephanos of Kallioupolis and Madytos, and Athenagoras of Kydonies.
After the Divine Liturgy, the Patriarch presided the Vesper of the Holy Spirit, during which he read the Kneeling Prayers.
The Sacred Service was also attended by Metropolitan Elder Konstantinos of Nikaia, Bishop Adrianos of Bodrum (Alikarnassos), Chief Officiales (Judicial Vicars) and a crowd of faithful from Constantinople as well as pilgrims from Greece, Romania and other countries.
