Patriarch John X of Antioch has reiterated the importance of electing a president for Lebanon amidst the challenging circumstances facing the country and the region.
His call came during a meeting with French Ambassador to Lebanon, Hervé Magro, held at the Patriarchal headquarters in Balamand, with the presence of Archimandrite Georges Yaacoub, head of the Monastery of Our Lady of Balamand.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Patriarch and the French Ambassador to discuss international and regional efforts, with a particular focus on French initiatives aimed at resolving Lebanon’s political deadlock.
The Patriarch commended the role of French diplomacy in mediating conflicts, including its efforts in Gaza, and promoting peace and ceasefire initiatives.
In turn, the ambassador emphasized the historical significance of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and other Eastern institutions in preserving Christian religious and cultural heritage in the Middle East, as well as fostering dialogue and unity among diverse religious communities.
