In an holly atmosphere, the Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, Theodore, performed the procession of the Bridegroom on Holy Tuesday, in the church of the Annunciation of the Greek Community of Alexandria.
The procession was attended by the Patriarchal Commissioner of Alexandria, Metropolitan of Nafratida Mr. Narcissus, the Bishop of Babylon Mr. Theodoros and the Holy Clergy with the Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod Archimandrite Fr.
Present was also the Consul General of Greece in Alexandria Mr. Athanasios Kotsionis, the President of the Hellenic Community of Alexandria Mr. Ioannis Siokas, the First Vice President of EKA Mr. Dimitris Vafiadis and the General Secretary of the Community Mr. Dimitris.
The famous troparion of Cassiani was performed in the Byzantine style by the Archon Protopsaltis of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, Mr. Nikos Katsikas, with the teacher Mr. Panos Gazis at his side.
Few people attended, including the Principal of the Tositsai Primary School of EKA Mrs. Kassandri Tsitsou, with the Patriarch of Alexandria recalling the old days when the church – some decades ago – was suffocatingly full.
“The church has a present and a future,” said Patriarch Theodoros, stressing that all Alexandrians who are not leaving in the city today are mentally close to us, even through the live broadcast of the entire procession carried out by the “Lighthouse of the Greek Diaspora» with the supervision of Mr. Apostolos Gyftogeorgiou.
