Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria described the late President of the Hellenic Republic, Karolos Papoulias, as “a political man who marked the modern history of Greece.”
In a letter of condolence, the Patriarch of Alexandria also stressed “his general offer to the Patriarchate of Alexandria.”
“We remember with emotion that in 2006 he attended as President of the Hellenic Republic the official inauguration of our Patriarchal House. The presence of the late Karolos Papoulias was a special honor and splendor!
We pray fervently to the Lord of life and death rest his soul and send consolation.
May his memory be eternal!” concluded the Patriarch of Alexandria.
