Patriarchal Commissioner of Alexandria, Metropolitan Narcissus of Nafkratis, thanked Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria on behalf of the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.
Speaking about the work of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, where Patriarch Theodore officiated on New Year’s Eve, the Metropolitan referred to the messages of love conveyed by the Church. He pointed out that the citizens of the great city of Alexandria were the descents of the people who lived at the same period with Saint Markos in the same area.
In addition, the Metropolitan referred to the love of the Patriarch of Alexandria for the African Christians. He also pointed out that the future of the Church and the world lied in Africa and, therefore, he deemed the African continent as a promising land thanks to its young people and its wealth. He also recalled that the first human being had been discovered in Africa.
Speaking on behalf of the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, the Metropolitan thanked the Patriarch of Alexandria and wished him all the best. He hoped that the Patriarch would be able to serve for many years in which he would be loving, offering, and creating for the sake of the Holy Synod and the Patriarchate of Alexandria.
Patriarch Theodore expressed joy and admiration for the beautiful language the Metropolitan was using during his speech and said that he had a genuine Greek soul.
He stressed the importance of the African continent and thanked him for his contribution and that of all the Hierarchs for their missionary work in Africa. In the end, Patriarch Theodore said: “I am delighted to serve the whole African continent.”
