Nearly 4,000 Diaspora Greeks from the West Coast of the United States joined the festivities in Anaheim, Los Angeles, on the second day of the FDF events, with Archbishop Elpidophoros of America in attendance.
The 47th FDF Greek Traditional Song and Dance Competition is hosted by the Metropolis of San Francisco. Competing participants strive to secure a spot in the finals, which will take place on Sunday.
Archbishop Elpidophoros of America and Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco actively participate in the events, witnessing the impressive performances of children and young adults, who flawlessly execute traditional dances and songs.
These activities serve as a powerful link for participants to their homeland and ancestral roots through their parishes.
Through music and dance, third-generation children, who do not speak very well the Greek language, immerse themselves in the rich tradition and culture of their Greek ancestry, learning and fervently preserving the customs passed down by their grandparents.
