In an interview, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and all Ukraine mentioned the controversial issue of the use of cannabis as a medicine for some patients.
Asked about this, Metropolitan Epifaniy said that the material, if a similar decision is made by the Ukrainian State, should be used only and strictly as a medicine and not later use such a decision as a pretext to expand drug use in Ukraine.
“In the meeting with the prime minister and the president of Ukraine, we stated as churches that, if this was to be allowed, it should not lead to harmful consequences. That is, under the pretext of legalization for medical purposes, no drug use must be expanded in the future,” said the primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
The issue of medical cannabis has been raised in Ukraine recently. It was one of the questions addressed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the questionnaire distributed to voters during the recent local elections.
