Minister of Education and Religious Affairs Niki Kerameus met Archbishop Elpidophoros of America during her visit to New York.
At their meeting, they discussed the organization of Greek schools in the US, while emphasizing that the Church has been an integral part and later on a valued supporter of the Greek-American Education. They also discussed issues related to religious education such as the operation of the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology and Manhattan Holy Trinity Cathedral School.
The minister had been briefed by Greek Consul General in New York Konstantinos Koutras on issues related to Greek education in the US. The Consul General also informed the minister about the contacts between Greece and the United States for student exchange programs.
The Greek minister also visited the Saint Demetrios Astoria School.
