Accodring to the Greek Ministry of Culture, Minister of Culture and Sports Lina Mendoni started her working visit to Central Macedonia on Friday, December 6, from the Folklife and Ethnological Museum of Macedonia-Thrace.
Mrs. Mendoni, accompanied by the Secretary General, Mr. Didaskalou, went to the Monastery Complex of Saint John the Baptist of Serres, dating back to the 12th century, in order to be informed about the progress of the restoration work of a section of the southern wing of this monument, which is being realized under the NSRF Operational Program for Central Macedonia 2014-2021.
The same team with the Minister carried out an autopsy on the “Hani” building too, the reconstruction and restoration work of which is ongoing. This building used to be the home of Emmanuel Papa, located at the entrance of the monastery complex and renovated with the courtesy of Thanasis and Marina Martinos. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2020.
