The official dedication ceremony for the Saints Demetrios and Nestor Greek Orthodox Parish in Örebro will take place on October 26, 2024, marking a significant moment for the Holy Metropolis of Sweden.
The newly established parish, located at Björkrisvägen 18, 70234 Örebro, will officially open its doors with a Thyranoixia (Door Opening) Ceremony and Divine Liturgy, beginning at 8:30 a.m. with Matins, followed by the Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon will be held at noon.
The ceremony represents a new chapter for the spiritual life of the Metropolis and the city of Örebro, as this new parish will become a center for regular holy services and religious celebrations.
Coinciding with the feast day of Saints Demetrios and Nestor, the event highlights the continued growth of Orthodoxy in Scandinavia and offers an opportunity for the faithful to gather in celebration.
The parish aims to contribute positively to the spiritual, cultural, and social life of the region, maintaining strong relationships with local authorities and the wider community. Regular services will take place every Sunday, with Orthros at 9 a.m. and Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m.
