On Friday, August 16, 2024, Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden and all Scandinavia visited the Residence of the Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See in Stockholm, Archbishop Julio Murat, located in the Danderyd area of the city. The meeting included a lunch hosted by the Nuncio.
Archbishop Murat, who speaks fluent Greek due to his origins in Smyrna, warmly welcomed Metropolitan Cleopas. In response, the Metropolitan expressed his gratitude for the kind and honorable invitation. He conveyed heartfelt wishes from the Ecumenical Patriarch and presented the Nuncio with his recently published book, “The Missionary Ministry of Archimandrite Eusebius Vittis in Scandinavia 1965-1980,” which was published by the Apostolic Ministry of the Church of Greece.
After a tour of the Chapel and the residence grounds, Archbishop Murat hosted a meal, during which he expressed deep respect for the Ecumenical Patriarch, praising his strong personality and his impactful work across the globe.
The meeting also included a discussion on current global issues, with both leaders offering prayers for the cessation of wars and the establishment of lasting peace. The visit concluded with an exchange of wishes for the Feast of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary.
